REQUIRED DISCUSSION--Don't Get Dropped!
To avoid being dropped from this course, you must complete this "Introduce Yourself" assignment anytime during the first week of the quarter. It's fun and easy. So why not just do it now?
DUE DATE: Initial Post: Wednesday Januuary 8th, respond to two classmates by Sunday, January 12th . Just don't forget to get it done -- or you'll get dropped (eek)!
STEP 1 (5 points): Post a brief minimum 300 word-self-description introducing yourself to your peers, including where you live, what you hope to gain from this course, your overall educational goals in college, plus what is your favorite food or most memorable meal and why?
STEP 2 (4 points): Reply to at least two of your peers in the Discussion Forum by Sunday, January 12.
Say hi, but also react -- encouragingly -- to at least one specific thing your peer shared in his/her/their/zir's discussion post.
Note: if you happen to be the very first person to post your Introduction, just log in again later to find a peer posting you can respond to.
STEP 3 (1-point): Add a clear photo of your face to your CANVAS profile. Makes a huge difference in my ability to learn your name.
Feedback and Grading
I look forward to getting to know you through this introductory assignment.
Hello everyone!
My name is Phyu Phyu Thant, I live in East side of San Jose. I'm really excited to join this nutrition class and I look forward to participating in this class and learning from all of you. I am taking Biology 45 as a prerequisite for my major goal to become a registered nurse. This ambition is driven by my passion for helping and educating the patients and also making a positive impact in rendering care. Currently, I am working as nursing assistant at El Camino hospital and Kaiser Permanente Hospital. I have a strong passion for helping patients and their families, and I believe nursing is more than a job, it's a calling that requires compassion, resilience, and dedication.
In this course, I want to better understand how to care for patients, enhance my practical skills, and learn about the difficulties we encounter in healthcare settings. My educational journey is about more than just attending classes, it's about making a meaningful impact on people's lives. I am eager to learn as much as I can and apply this knowledge in real world settings. Discussions with classmates and guidance from professors are very helpful for my career growth in healthcare setting.
I have always liked eating meat and vegetables because they are healthy and can be used in many different dishes and I love eating chocolate because it has a rich, milky, and comforting flavor. However, eating habit and style has changed after taking contempt nutrition an introductory nutrition course. I used to eat a lot of sweets in the past, but now I am more cautious. I've learned the importance of watching my calorie intake and understanding nutritional content. This has made me more careful about what I eat to stay healthy and has helped me value the importance of nutrition for overall well-being.

I have always enjoyed eating meat and vegetables because they are healthy and versatile. Another favorite of mine is chocolate, which tastes rich and comforting. However, after taking an introductory nutrition course, my approach to food has changed. I used to eat sweets often, but now I am more careful about what I eat. I've learned the importance of watching calories and calculating nutritional intake, which has made me more mindful about what I eat. This shift has not only improved my health but also deepened my appreciation for the role of diet in maintaining overall well-being.
I look forward to participating and discuss in this class and learning from your experiences as well. Let's support each other and grow together in this class.
