Consuming one to two servings of fruits and vegetables per day, aiming for three to four servings per day. I can add apple slices, or a banana can significantly increase my daily fruit and vegetable consumption without much effort.  For example, have a banana or apple with breakfast, a salad with lunch, and two vegetables with dinner. Preparing meals and snacks in advance so that I can make it easier to include more fruits and vegetables.

What is one additional thing you learned or one thing you still do not understand related to water, electrolytes and/or antioxidants?  Explain this as if you are explaining it to a patient. This is not an optional question. Minimum 150 words

Your Answer:

I learned something interesting about how antioxidants help with hydration at the cellular level. Antioxidants are found in foods like fruits and vegetables, and they protect our cells from damage by free radicals. These free radicals can harm the cell walls, which might cause the cells to lose water. If I were explaining this to a patient, I’d say, "Imagine your cells are like little water balloons. The outer layer of the balloon is like the cell wall. Antioxidants keep this layer strong and intact, so the water stays inside the balloon. When you eat foods rich in antioxidants, such as berries, greens, and nuts, you're not only drinking water to stay hydrated but also helping your cells hold onto that water. This helps you stay hydrated more effectively and keeps you healthier. Eating a diet that includes lots of fluids and foods rich in nutrients is key for keeping your body well-hydrated and healthy.
