Adult female: EER = 354 − [6.91 x 43 (y)] + PA x [9.36 x weight 70.76(kg) + 726 x 1.54 (m)]
Note: to convert pounds to kilograms, divide weight in pounds by 2.2. To convert feet to meters, divide height in feet by 3.3.
Find a measuring tape and calculate your waist to hip ratio:
Measure your waist circumference, and divide this by your hip circumference.
What did you come up with?
SHOW YOUR CALCULATION. (If you don't have a measuring tape, use a string or belt, and a ruler.)
Measure at the smallest point. Wrap a tape measure around your waist at the smallest point, usually around your belly button. This is your waist circumference.
Measure your hips. Next, wrap the tape measure around your hips at the widest part. This is your hip circumference.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines abdominal obesity in men as a waist-to-hip ratio of at least 0.90. For women, it’s a ratio of 0.85 or more. A ratio higher than 1.0 for either sex means a much higher chance of health problems.
